The People of the rugged Mountain, Ladakh Region, India

Ladakh People are very different in looks from the rest of the country. Due to the altitude of the place, their skin is very hard and tough with soft and plain nature by heart. Their clothes and appearance are more alike to the Asian and Tibetan people.

The Ladakh people are said to be the most simple and cheerful in nature. Even their lifestyle is very simple and they prefer to remain close to the nature. Dresses for Ladakh man and woman are totally different.  Women wear the Goncha, which is a loose thick woolen robe that is tied on waist by a colorful band and men wear loose pyjamas with a hat. The Buddhist people wear bright brick red color robe. On special occasions, people wear bright and silk robes.

My visit to the popular Thikse monastery was quite good despite weather was harsh. A glimpse of monks life style , daily activities and vast architecture were captivating .

Shanti Stupa is standing tall , accommadating hundreds of people to sight an amazing areal view of Leh town and glimpse of monks life style was well seen.

After a long journey to Lamayuru village the moon land of Ladakh , the vast and the beautiful door of  Yuru Ghompa welcomed us despite sporadic drizzle was often accompanied by fog. It was quite fascinating to observe old aged ladakhi woman walking down with traditional attire, monks and daily rituals.

I recall that acvities around leh town was quite amusing since they work hard for the first six month and pile up their stocks for another six month. Due to extreme weather condition, situation is quit unpredictable. The purest form of life can be well seen despite  hardship was the first sight.

The village of Karzok, the last inhabited village before Tso Moriri Lake is the only year round habitation of the village where Buddhist pilgrims meditate even in the harsh winters of Ladakh in the 400 years old Korzok Monastery.
